With an ancient city full of history like Rome, it can be hard to take everything in without a guide. The city of Rome itself is a museum. I’ve been in plenty of fantastic museums, but without a guide, I had no idea the significance of certain pieces and their history. With a guide, I would have truly been able to enjoy those museums to their real potential.
I tend to avoid tours for the same reasons as plenty of others. Who wants to get stuck in a tour with tons of people? I mean you get lost, you cant hear your guide cause you’re in the back, and you can’t ask any questions because of there are so many people. Not to mention the pace is either too slow or too fast. How did I get past all that and take a tour this time?
Why Livitaly’s tours are different
Although I’m that same person, who avoids tours and just told you why, when I heard about Livitaly I had to try it! Here are the things that make the biggest difference than other tour companies.
It’s six people max per group! It makes it so personal and enjoyable! You can actually get to know your guide and those on tour with you! The guide can answer your questions and go at your pace.
A family owns this company and its Italy based! This is SO important!!! The owners Angelo and Kristen are passionate about Italy and want to show the real Italy not the tourist Italy in their tours. The name of the company is because they want to teach you to LIVE ITALY.
As I said before, they want you to truly LIVE ITALY. Before the tours, they hand you a map with local restaurants that are their personal favorites. This is not only very personal but reflective of how much they want you to enjoy authentic Italy.
The Tour I took with Livitaly
I took the Colosseum underground and ancient Rome tour which was a 3-hour tour. I’m not going to go into too much detail because our guide was AMAZING at giving us TONS of history and fun facts. I want those who are planning on taking this tour to be able to learn these things from their guide like I did, not from me.
We started in front of the colosseum and after meeting our guide, we headed straight in. The first stop was the floor of the colosseum; we spent a good amount of time talking about the history of such a masterpiece. We had plenty of time to stop and take photos too 🙂
Then we moved underground, we learned about the structure of the Colosseum, the elevators, and the cells for slaves and animals.
After we went to the very top of the Colosseum, which was spectacular. Looking down into the Colosseum as well as the views overlooking Rome.
We next ventured over to Palatine Hill where we learned about the exclusive neighborhood of those who lead Rome. Then we walked to the Roman Forum which was the center of Roman Politics.
My tour was extremely enjoyable! Livitaly has tours available all over Italy, if you are looking for a tour or headed to Italy I suggest you book with Livitaly now.
I was given this tour by Livitaly in exchange for a review. However, all opinions are 100% my own, and I would recommend a tour from Livitaly to everyone!
